oh the idiocy! it drives me to madness seeing how fervently people (mainly on speedmag) can hack at eachothers throats about the american muscle cars vs. the import ricers. "domestics are POS redneck pedal-mashing drags!" "imports are pansy little bugs that dont belong on the dragstrip!" etc etc. even the connotations are ethnically derogatory... how low can they go? how immature can they possibly be, and how closed-minded? someone recently told me they wanted to get a corvette and put a lift kit on it and raise it four feet above the ground with enormous wheels... that struck me as quite ridiculous. however, i appreciate the fact that he didnt also add, "and all import drivers should cut off their genitals and jump off a bridge."<P>i think the fact is, theres great things about both imports and domestics, and if someone cant acknowledge the opposition's strengths as well as weaknesses, theyre not mature enough to be within a twenty-foot radius of a steering wheel.<P>i drive an mx3, and before that, a honda crx, and before that, a chrysler, and before that, a dodge. (jeez, going through four cars makes me sound really old... but im not, i swear!) i have nothing against domestics... some cars are just better than others, it doesnt matter WHERE theyre made, its HOW theyre made, in my opinion. ^_^ anyway, thats my two cents... peace!

i agree people should just appreciate that other people have a passion for cars, regardless of the type of car. i used to own an mx-3, now i own an escort gt. i love them both!

That's a big TEN-FOUR.<P>I used to own a MX-3 GS, now I own a Dodge Dakota. Both of them have their strong points.<P>The MX-3 was faster, more fun to drive, and got more "looks" than my Dakota. But, the Dak's 175hp will pull more and haul more than the MX-3 (although I did pull a 1984 Honda Accord with the MX about 10 feet up a small incline...)<P>Obviously, Domestics are easier and usually cheaper to upgrade overall. Take the Chevy 350 for instance. This is probably the motor with the most parts available. Take a look at the JEGS catalog if you don't believe me.<P>Then again, Imports use the metric system, which I prefer over SAE. Shoot, might as well use Whitworth sockets.<P>WHITWORTH SOCKETS: Once used for working on older British cars and motorcycles, they are now used mainly for impersonating that 9/16 or 1/2 socket you've been searching for the last 15 minutes.

and with imports cars you d'ont have to go fill the gas tank evry day lol..<BR>
