one day about 2 months ago I was driving with my girlfriend and I was driving softly, and all of a sudden it started having hesitation/ bog like a misfire. thought it was the knock sensor, it was throwing a code and I fixed it today no codes anymore. and still, if I put the gas down more than 1/4 throttle it hesitates to about 3,000 rpm (sounds like s--- )., and If I floor it, it accelerates about half as it should till about 4200 rpm,(sounds so bad the whole time till 4200) then it rips, it doesn't hesitate or miss higher than 4200 rpm... and it varies, if I feather the gass and rip it for a few gears ( putting the gass down as far as I can just before it bogs ) it runs better, if I grandma drive it it gets really bad. Its so annoying and I feel like its not good for the engine. I haven't changed the distributor, wires or anything since my K8 (lol cheep 19 year old) what are the possibilities ? and yes I have read all the other forums with the videos and mines a bit different. plz help me

you just solved your own problem. You havent changed the disty. Im sure thats your issue. Go cheap and smart and do the external coil and HEI mod. Cheaper than a new distributor and better reliability you cant go wrong.

I had the same issues you describe on my MX6. I would accelerate and it would sputter and almost die until I bogged up to a certian RPM like yourself then it would be normal. Every once in a while it would bog or misfire at a high RPM but it was rare. After replacing everything ignition related minus the disty its self I then did this mod and my problem was eliminated. Im sure my ignition module was dying/dead. Also just take your disty cap off and look at the contacts. You said you have never changed plugs, wires or the cap? Start there. You might be just looooooong overdue for a tune up.

I would say O2 sensors, air flow meter (VAF) or distributor.

will the hei mod work on mine I need to know! I have a 96 mx3 with a klze in it now

I changed the distributor cap and rotor yesterday and it didn't change anything

I don't know why, but it stopped poping the last few drives it old did it once yesterday. im wondering if the ecu configured to it.?!?! but it has less power at the redline.. aha s---

Do this(HEI Mod). The cap is not your problem....

did the HEI mod and it drives good! no poping! didn't put the msd coil on tho, mabe some day but ya it works great thanks everyone!
