crankcase tube to air intake

Post by zayd687 »

Hi Guys
there is a tube which goes to the air intake, can that be blocked off, is that to bleed of crankcase gases back into the combustion chamber via the air intake?.

could i run a catch can instead? because i think this is for environmental purposes and my car is mostly on the track.

thank you

If you're talking about the tubes that come off the valve covers then yes you can send them to a catch can. Later versions of the K engine eliminated those vents. I'd still run the line off the PCV valve.

Yes the hose circled in red, i was about to upload a pic but I still have to search the site and see how to do this.

Should i Run a catch can or block it off?
does it affect performance of the vehicle?.

Its purpose is to introduce fresh air for emissions. I believe you can bypass this hose all together though, but someone else jump in to confirm. I've seen some people put a small filter on this hose as well.

I have that hose vented to outside air, as my current intake setup has no hole for the hose. Texas emission have a bunch of grey areas... :)

IIRC that hose helps pull some PCV from the valve covers and burn it inside the motor.
