replacement speakers

Post by mitmaks »

I'd like to upgrade speakers in mx-3. 20 year old speakers don't sound good anymore. Which speakers will bolt right in (for the back and doors)

They're 6.5" front and back.
Watch the mounting holes though. AFAIK they used the 3 hole mounting layout for all of our cars. I ended up going with the Kicker setup for my 92. They were the only brand at the stereo place with 3-hole in them.
I don't regret these speakers at all.
Wings on an MX3? What are you thinking?

6.5" for sure just doing mine. I drilled new holes in my rear speakers for the mounting holes. If you do not use the plastic mounts in the front doors they will ground out and when it rains,... well, they quit working..

If you are not as adventurous as I you can order up some Scosche adapter rings, they are like 10 bucks a set. They were available on Amazon a while back for the MX at like 8 dollars.

If you have a hairdryer I also recommend taking the plastic backing plate off of the OE speakers. This helps throw the sound into the car as well as it keeps water from dripping down the window to the back of the cone.
