Engine swap. Need feedback!

I have been searching like crazy and finally found both a KL-ZE and a KL-DE. I need some feedback on which would be better for my plans. I am sitting on the B6-D 1.6 I4. Not doing a V6 swap is most likely out of the question. But I have been handed a Garrett turbo by a buddy who cracked his block on his 7th gen Celica. Prices on engine's only vary by $100 so either one is a go. I would just like some input on which would be better for turbo re-build. Any and all criticism accepted. Worklog in progress and will be complete once Engine swap and Turbo are fitted!

I'm confused, you mentioned 2 V6 engines and said you aren't doing a V6 swap...
We are definitely able to help with mostly any questions that you may have, but please clear that up first!

I have some info to add too, once I know a little better what you are asking.

Maybe more like this:
And Newmazda, it seems that you want to go boost and I would reccomend a DE over a ZE for that and a bunch of folks will do some interesting hybrid stuff with the two engines when going boost. Goldmember, who probably had the fastest MX-3 in this forum boosted a KL-G4 which is sort of in between a ZE and a DE. I believe he was running around 350HP.
BUT over both I would reccomend doing a BPT swap, the actual swap will be considerably less involved, no need for stuff like shift linkage and crossmember and they handle boost as well if not better then any KL engines. BPts have been run up to 350+ HP by guys over on clubprotege.com and are probably the easiest to get ahold of of the swappable MX-3 engines.
Or if you can find one a 2.0 FE3 engine would probably be the best, it makes decent power NA and can make a lot boosted, it's probably the best engine to swap in and boost as far as power goes but very hard to find.

He used a double negative so it means he'll probably be doing a V6 swap. Like,,,,take an English course man.

I dont get what u guys didnt understand. He bought a de and ZE. He has a 4cyl in his car now and wants to put a V6 in it not doing the v6 swap is out of the question but doesnt know which one is best for when he turbos it a DE or a ZE

Pretty sure he says the cost difference is only $100 for the ZE vs DE, sounds like he hasn't bought an engine yet which is why I recommended the BP and FE3 over a DE or ZE.

ah ok i missed that part, yeah i would go with a 4cyl setup if i was boosting as well. more power gains, more reliable, and more room in the bay over all to work with. I wonder what torque differences there are from a 250ish HP V6 to a 250ish HP 4 banger.
It would of been really grand if there was a pound for pound comparison. Like you run the same amount of boost on both using the same turbos and managment and see which power plant got more power to the ground via a dyno. Or a time slip comparison of similar mods on the two different powerplants. Everytime someone says this or that is good for FI there is never a good argument because this guys is on this much boost with that turbo and the other is on another level.....
