200sx downpipe?!

Hello, working on the final connection for the turbo which is the downpipe. Instead of buying a blank flange and using steel
bends etc I think I can use the original 200sx DP, but in a stainless steel version as opposed to cast an modify the angle a bit?!

What do folks think who have turboed 1600's, does this look like it could work?

I just dont know how tight the bends are going to have to be to get it back down to the exhaust...

Comparing to the corksport downpipe, it doesn't look like it'd work without putting a real tight bend on there

Thanks for comparison pic, that does help. Think I might need to go with a flange and some tight radius bends as the 200sx DP is ovalised half way down and would probably be a right bugger to mate upto an elbow!

Yeah looks like the Nissan DP would wrap across the front, where clearance is already tight.

If you can find a CS DP that would be the most ideal, they are great! but I have made 4 of my own since my CS DP. if you check my WL you can see some pictures of my latest one viewtopic.php?f=46&t=73765&start=15 but I bought SS flanges and 3" SS Ubend with a 45 on one end. I can make an entire downpipe out of one. 2.5" is really easy to work with. the 3" is a bit more trickier. cost me around 125 USD to make, and I ship my SS pipe from Canada haha :)

Ah thats great help thanks Josh, I hadn't seen those before  Brilliant solution using the U bend, think I might need a even more tighter radius becuase my turbo is sitting slightly lower.

Think i will go flange and pipe route then, have found a flange with 2.25 opening. Do you think 2.25 is big enough though for the downpipe or do I put a collector cone on the flange going from 2.25 to 2.5?

For that turbo 2.25 is big enough, I am a fan that bigger is always better so my latest flange that I used was 3" :) but 2.25 will be plenty. Are you separating the wastgate? The flange I got had 2 holes one for the wastgate and one for the turbo exhaust.

Yeah i had thought about a seperate pipe with the divider, but i figure just for ease of fab. and it probably won't make any noticable difference anyway I would go with just one pipe. Although a screamer pipe could of been a novelty! :D

This is flange I was looking at had thought about putting it up on the four jaw lathe as it looks thick enough and carving a pocket out the back of the flange.
