no clue what it is but its weird plus i got wires hangin that are cut and no clue were to go with them i bought car in rough shape and i am currently workin on it

It's not factory. If you don't want it there, I would trace the wires and pull it. (I have no clue what it is.........Is that a standard house plug-in on the top of it??? Could it be a block warmer???)

so what would happen if someone played with the giant number knob i really dont know what to do with it guys its kinda tripping me out

I'd go with a DC-AC Inverter, with a voltage regulator(the dial), without seeing it in person...
