Found some cool stuff at a different JY today.

I haven't been to this place before, never heard of it to be honest...

Found 2 MX-3s:
A 93 GS, nearly complete but rotting from all the water sitting in her. 4 KYB Gr2 struts on stock springs! Minty Ashtray! for me! :D
A 94 RS, full interior, also full of water and mildew. Snagged the center console and shift knob from this one, wooh! :D Too bad the lower seatbelt mounting points are rusted out. :(

I've been curious about the idea of buying used Kyb GR2 struts and having them replaced via warranty... KYB's website claims you need to have the original receipt, but I believe people have had success without it. Can anybody confirm or deny this for me? The JY wants $80 for all 4 struts.

They also had quite a few MX6s, Probe GT, Millenia, Protege, RX7, 626, and even some older Mazdas. I was surprised to see quite a few NICE 240sx shells as well... There were 2 minty, rust free MX6 shells, missing the engines of course.

I did check around for ECUs while I was there, and would be happy to pull ECUs for anybody that needs them.

Auto trans KL '95 Probe ECU, I didn't pull it to check the code.
Man. trans KL MX6 ECU(KL55), the KL02 VAF appear to be in good condition as well.
Man. trans K8 MX3 ECU(K801?) JE50 was missing, but who here doesn't have 12?
There were at least 7 BP equipped cars in the lot, all with complete engines(from what I can tell)
2 or 3 of them definitely still had their ECUs, as well as MAF/VAFs.

Mitmaks, are you still looking for a hood? There's a MINTY white one in this yard. ;)

I'm taking the sound dampening material, as it's the first mint one I've seen besides my own... which I misplaced in my move. :(

2 x Front mudguards(1 left, 1 right)
NO rear mudguards!

Minty GS spoiler(White)

6.5/10 GS Lip, also White! The left side is pretty banged up, but the right is not bad at all.

If you need anything on this list, I'll do my very best to grab it for you... this yard has extremely low traffic, considering they've got at least 700 cars sitting there, most in amazing condition... The white GS, 2 MX6s, and ALL but one Probe looked roadworthy... They were missing their wheels more often than not, as well as a few engines, but for the most part these were cosmetic totals. It broke my heart to see them sitting in ankle deep mud.

why dont you call or email kyb and say you bought some struts but lost the receipt and was wondering if they could still be covered under warranty?

what are the chances of you grabbing an egr from one of those millenias for me?

I'm scared to take the chance with the purchase, even though it's only $80 for 4 struts. I have 2 brand new ones in the mail currently for my '92, so it's more of a "well look what we have here..." type thing, but it could save me $60 a few months down the road too.

The chances would be 100% if the Millenias weren't gutted. :( The shell of one is mint, the interior is sexy to boot, but the engine is gone. The other is engineless, but not so minty. :(

I've been keeping an eye out though, if I find one it's yours Mike.

like i said just give them a call, or email them. that way you'll have real information on whether or not theyd warranty them instead of people on the internet saying one thing or another. ive purchased many used things, broken them and warrantied them in the past without reciepts, but at the end of the day it depends on the manufacturer. worst case scenario theyd cover the front 2 since youd have a receipt for them...

my understanding of how businesses work. products have serial numbers. these serial numbers are tracked when they are sold to stores, stores report to manufacturers when these serial numbers have been sold. as long as there is a paper trail of these struts being purchased and not stolen from a warehouse im fairly confident they would warranty them.

thanks for looking for an EGR btw. 2.5l millenias are super rare in canada. atleast they are in my area that is.

That's true... although using the receipt for brand new struts and replacing filthy JY ones(even after cleaning  ) would look a little weird.

I'll shoot them an email though, it can't hurt to try. May end up selling the fronts if I pick them up, since I'll have 2 complete sets installed! :D

It's no trouble, I've yet to see a single 2.3 Milli engine in the JY. I've seen the shells, just no engines. :freak:
How much of the EGR do you need anyways, just the valve itself, or all of the piping too?

i just found/bought a used 2.5 milly egr off ebay. it was a bit expensive but wasnt outrageous. i no longer need anyone to look for me :).

i may however, depending on the wiring harness, need to find a egr plug from a millenia. im assuming its different then the mx3 egr plug? maybe next time you go their you could cut off the plug with about 6" of wiring and pocket it for me mrmazda? that is assuming the person who grabbed the engine didnt hack apart the engine harness and took the time to unplug everything...

Congrats! :D I'm glad you found one finally.

I'll take a peak, I should be there on Saturday... I might go in later tomorrow if the weather is forgiving. I sliced my hand up pretty good on one of the cars today, ended up quitting after only a few hours removing things.

Will you be down in this area at any time this spring/summer?

I got really lucky... I hadn't ever heard of this yard before, and I literally stumbled upon it by mistake. I was looking for a different yard, which I had forgotten the exact address of, and I took a "wrong" turn. Mud up to my ankles, but a very well organized JY! Except for the Probes... Those were kind of all over the place.

Get me the drivers window switch will ya for my MX6. I'll pay ya plus shipping if they have a power window MX6 there. Also the drivers or passengers door light on the bottom rear of the door avec lens. Tanks

How much do they want for that hood?

Dan, they charge $15 for interior pieces such as switches, if I find one I'll snag it when I grab some other stuff, to get it down below $10. Is there any chance it's the same switch as a 2nd gen Probe? That'd increase the odds of finding one.

The MX-3 was missing it's window switches, sadly. I had hoped to snag a backup switch of my own. :( I may be able to grab the passenger regulator and track for Vecia though, I forgot about that! :D

I haven't gotten a quote for body panels yet, but they cut everything in price when you buy in quantity, so coming out with a bag full of goodies and a hood on my shoulder would help sweeten the deal. I'll get a quote when I head in first thing tomorrow to grab my own stuff, check for an EGR plug, and look for Dan's stuff.

if possible and it is available do you think you could grab the egr tube for me as well? i know 90% of the time they are seized in place but if you could break one free without much effort id be indebted to you BIG TIME!
