I was wondering if anyone can tell if this is a KLZE just by looking at the pics?

The intake manifold is a straightneck ZE manifold... That's all those pictures show though, so far as I can tell.

It also looks like the oil filter is mounted oddly. It's not vertical, unless I'm mistaken?

stamps on the heads will tell you. i believe you want to see kl31-101 and kl31-1a1. you also need to check the stamps on the cams to know for sure. you can pull a spark plug and look at a the pistons aswell, ze's have flat pistons where de's are bowl shaped...

It sounds like he isn't close enough to inspect the engine in person, I suggest the OP gets more pictures from the seller/owner of the engine.

Dude lives about 100 miles away, but would be a steal if it's a real ZE. Thanks for the responses.

No problem Just try to get him to snap a few more pictures. The biggest things will be the cams and heads, since the pistons won't show up well in photos...
