Best way to clean a alternator

Swapping over a alternator on my Mazda mx3 klde.Thu the alternator i got from my wrecking mx3 is black from grease and grim.Just wont know whats the best way to clean the alternator without stuffing it.Thanx crew :wink:

-The best way to clean your alternator is with a brush dipped in kerosene and then applying a jet of pressurized water.
-I think it is the best way when the alternator still is in or out the car, ...

I took mine apart to do it, but I don't think you'll harm it just pressure washing it. Just make sure you let it dry thoroughly.

Ryan, you should make a walkthrough for that. :D Other things as well, make it easy for people like me who really benefit from visual learning :lol:

Lol, I have spare time, but not that much spare time.

Google will have one if you're desperate. The hardest part is figuring out how to compress the brushes when you put the rotor back in.

Thanks for the help boys,I used all your ideas,kerosene on a brush washed it down with the gerni and and let it dry thoroughly.Got the auto electrician to hook it up all good the alternator working fine :D .Cheers boyz.

Awesome! I should try this... now I need to pick up more engine goodies. :lol: If only I had the money. :(
