Need some help ASAP for some wiring issues

Post by the wraith »

First off yesterday i started pulling out all the old alarm crap that was dying (the alarm itself was old and just wasnt installed properly).

I started pulling and snipping and forgot this part was for the MSD setup that my brother made for the 6AL box and Disty wiring. Well i hastily started removing not realizing that this for the Disty and not part of the alarm. Can any of you wiring experts tell me which wires go back where so i can re solder them back in place?

He was not using a HEI Module for the Blaster Coil, instead was using the MSD box, the Blaster coil, and the Modified PRD Disty Cap.

The Box he made:

The wires i removed from the box wiring:

For Informations Sake, below is a list of the MX-3 Distributor plug wire colors & their functionality:

6-pin Plug (from the top to bottom)
Solid Orange (Ignition control module ecu trigger)
Black w/green stripe
Pink w/white stripe (camshaft position sensor SGC signal)
Pink w/green stripe (camshaft position sensor SGT signal)
White w/red stripe
Black w/light-green stripe (ECU constant ground)

3-ping Plug (fromp top to bottom):
Solid Blue (ignition coil +)
Yellow w/blue stripe (tachometer signal from ignition coil)
Solid Red (ignition coil -)

More Information on whats wired:

Black with Green Stripe on Left, Orange in Middle, Yellow with blue stripe on Right

White Wire is from MSD Box and Disty Red wire (Ignition Coil -)

Red Wire is from MSD Box and Solid Blue (ignition coil +)

2nd Need of help:

The Alarm was also wired poorly to the door locks and after i removed the wiring for the alarm, i need to know where to splice the wires into.

3rd thing:

Battery relocation. When it was done, dont ask me why, but the red cable is the neg, and the black is the power. The black cable is routed to the front of engine, the red is grounded to the seat bracket. Is this sufficient grounding?

4th thing:

Since doing the MSD Box and coil - Does the 3 wire plug need to be on the disty still or can it live off of the disty in the trash can? Also in the 2nd pic - the tiny little wire connecting to the disty, does it need to be plugged in or left off since im running the box?

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Wiring is always a pain.

You could check a wire at the time, seeing where it ends up.
Just another Mx3 freak :)

This was already solved.

Basically what the box was a disty bypass box for using a KLZE Disty Cap (Or Modified Disty Caps) running a HEI or MSD Box.

for my setup this was the wiring in case anyone has any other questions in the future.

i would assume as long as its touching the body of the car its alright. subframe or not. i have an old amp wire from the trunk i just put it on a bolt that was touching the metal frame it worked fine. same rules should apply. although i would ground it somewhere in the engine bay area maybe to the main frame if that was the case. i have my own electrical problems to solve but grounds are pretty simple. worse case you can always use a +/- tester
03 Dodge Neon (rental i had for a month but i ran that into the ground for sure)
95 Chrysler Concorde (Junked my first car [still ran])
90 Nissan Stanza (Junked [wouldnt start one day])
89 Saab 9000 CD (sedan/turbo very fun but electrical problems[city towed away for no plates on private property])
94 Toyota Camry (mothers old car fixed it then broke it[dont ask] Junked)
93 MX-3 RS (My project for 3 years so far)
97 Honda Civshit (Beater/Stereotypical POS Honda im fixing)
