Bouncing/low idle with KL31/36

I've been running my curved neck ZE with stock K8 ecu and KL02 VAF for a while. It's running fairly good. Now i've decided to try KL36 and KL02 instead and see if I can get a little more power. The problem though is that , mostly when warm the idle drops to like 100-250 and almost dies. Tried adjust the tb screw in diag mode but the problem seems to return. With the K8 setup everything is fine. I cant really see why it differs from these two setups? Is the timing off with the KL36 (dont have a timing light, so havn't checked yet)? Always thought the ecu adjusted the timing automatically, but maybe that differ from ecu to ecu.

The KL36 isn't configured to run a KL02 VAF, you're suppose to use the stock Mx-3/Je50 VAF with a KL31/36 ECU

The K8 ECU + KL02 VAF is a decent setup, but ideally, you want the KL02 VAF to be paired with a KLDE ECU

If you had it timed to 10º BTDC on the old ecm, it will be the same in the new one. Setting the timing with the timing light is putting the distributor sensor in physical harmony with the actual crank position, so changing the electronics won't change that.

And Nd4Spd is right. K8 w/ JE50, KLDE w/ KL02, and Jspec w/ JE50.

I apologize Mike!

I get you two mixed up sometimes... you both know of what you speak.

Exception to the rule is 1996+ OBD2 with KLZE uses KL02 VAF with stock ECU. :D

That's because you still believe the world if flat. OBD2 can run with any after market add on OBD1 runs with with one exception and that is?// Anyway, I was just adding to what you guys were saying, sorry I even commented :crying:

Oh ya and my 96 with it's ultra advanced OBD2 system easily passed emissions testing (Dan sticks his tongue out at the unbelievers)

I don't need OBD2, OR emissions testing

I know Kl36 and KL02 isnt supposed to work. I had to try since a person with a KLZE was using it and running good. But, anyhow, switched to JE50, and its even worse. Bounces between 250-800. Besides that it runs much better than K8/KL02, but with the later combo the idle is perfect and not bouncing. How is that? if there was a vacuum leak or something it should bounce with all combos...
