Just curious, my daily driver civic is having issues. When it is cold it sputters a little bit while giving it gas and the idle drops to about 300 rpm. Once it is warmed up she runs just fine. I was thinking fuel pump but being warm wouldn't affect that it as far as I know. Any ideas??

98 lx with 4cyl. Completely stock except the muffler is missing, don't feel like spending the money to replace it....

is your cel on? Everything listed points to the IAC system. Most of the Idle air sensors should store a Diagnostic trouble code though, but main culprits are IACV and IAT sensors.

I'm assuming no CEL, so, initially, I'd say probably your catalytic converter is getting clogged.

Spark plugs, wires, etc, all in good shape, I assume?

No CEL Plugs are brand new, wires new last fall. new ignition coil as of last fall, new ignition control module as of last fall.

I would do a vacuum treatment with Seafoam it wouldnt hurt anything, and pour the rest of the can in your tank.

Well today the civvvvv, civvvvv....... (better not mention the c word) My other car decided to stall out on me twice, check engine light came on and decided what had been a random occurence would be full time.

I got it in the garage tonight, the mx3 is finally out for a few days, and started checking the ignition system. We would have never figured it out had I not gone to remove the distributor cap and found that one of the three screws that hold it on seared off and now there is a small gap at the back of the cap.

All the leads in the cap are burnt up. Replacing the cap should fix it I think, but how do I go about getting the half a screw out when I can't get anything on it. I have about 5" of space so I can't drill it out like I normally would. Any ideas???

You will probably have to take the disty out, so you can use an extractor. My preferred method for extracting sheared bolts is to place a nut on top of the bolt and mig weld it to the bolt, but disty bolts are way too thin to do that, so an extractor would be your best option.

Hmmm somehow I thought you said you never had a CEL.... The cap will help, you should be able to use an 1/8"bit to drill the center out then back it out with a left handed drill bit.
