Ok, I have asked ALOT of people this but nobody has the answer. So I turn it over to you guys and gurlz. If Fast and the Furious, Paul Walkers eclipse has a scoop on the ROOF, not the hood. I have racked my brain trying to find ONE possible reason for this, but can't. What is this for? Performance? Looks? Is his car too fast and is lookin for a way to slow it down? I am stumped. Help me out. Thanks

the idea comes from auto cross racing for mid-engine cars(behind the driver's seat). they used hood scoops to pull in air to cool the engine at high rates of speed, when without the hood scoop, wouldn't get enough. as far as the eclipse, it serves no purpose but thin out your wallet.

They are also used in WRC (Rallying) because the cars have no air conditioning and it helps to cool the drivers.

a friend of mine in alaska wants a non-functional scoop in which he'll hide a pair of bullhorns to scare the bejeesus out of deer & such in the road. or just any jackass that pisses him off. :D he has a WRX so it'd look good, too.
