Ryan's Final Build

I'm not sure why I'm starting this thread yet, because I don't even have, or plan to have, the chassis for this car for at least another year. I plan on travelling down into Imperial turf to pick up a 100% mint GS/SE shell, with S/R, A/C, and C/C. Anyone got one for sale? Mileage is not important. I'm concerned about what shape the body is in, and how rusty it is, all over. Interior isn't a big deal either.

This winter I may start on the motor.

Got it

Still looking

Motor will be:

-KLDE block $0
-KLDE heads $40
-Colt 218º/0.355" N/A Race Grind Cams $200

-Wytbushings if at all possible, 70A in the rear, 80 up front.
-New Mazda trailing arms $0
-GS 5 spoke $150
-swaybar bushings... unsure. Maybe I can mock up something solid.
-BFG G-Force GT's $200

Performance Add-ons/Upgrades will be:

-Egay headers - $150
-2.5" piping $280
-Long mother glasspack, 30" $40

-Re vac hosed and hose tucked. Fuse box relocation, perhaps. $0
-MAZDA brake light mod (Thanks to Dark_Rider2k3) $0
-Clear side markers/signals $0
-Euro mini sides, USDM lip, OEM slim visors $0
-RS raised, or wraparound $20
-Black Projectors w/ vertical LED's $200
-Good lookin' push button ignition. Perhaps w/ key-less ignition.
-Door-Ajar-Chime kill switch. Switch will auto return when door closes.
-Home brew anti-theft. I'm not telling you what, but it will be ingenious.
-Replace stock reservoirs.
-Leather or felt or something sexy on the seats/door trim.
-Eunos steering wheel... mmmm....
-Debadged, with "fanged M" style logo over hatch keyhole.
-Shaved hood emblem
-Maybe a KLZE sticker
-MX-3.COM stick on hatch

Stuff I can't afford:

-MSnS/CarPC - Maybe some day.
-Wytbushings
-Wytendlinks
-Overbore TB
-GC coilovers
-ITB's

Uncertainties:

Switch up the 218's for 210's. Makes like 20hp at idle.

Reading all of them means you've read my old RS thread, lol. I haven't documented my atx-mtx k8-klde GS at all, or my refurbished GS... or my other GS...

On another note, I found a good place in the city that will balance my entire rotating assembly for just under $300. This is ouch, but I feel its essential. They do crank end for end, rods end for end, pulley and flywheel separately, and then all of it together(rods, pistons, bearings, clutch, pulley, all of it)

I won't add pictures till I actually take it off the shelf to work with it

First project will likely be my home made dunk tank :D

Actually, I think that's a helluva good price. Nice find.

Get Er Done Dude. I wanted to ask if balancing is really necassary. If your using factory parts they should already be good to go shouldn't they? As far as HEI, John has an MSD 2 blaster coil for sale, good price. Have you checked out the price for colt cams? As far as I know there's a buy on ProbeTalk for these isn't there. Like $200 for the set.
anyway good luck on finding a pristine MX-3. You should of bought my 95 last year, it was a beauty with NO rust. Cheers

Good luck on the build. I'll definetly keep my eyes on this.

Where did you research the k8 cams being an upgrade? I have a k8 sitting on the garage floor and haven't put the Kyle motor in the pro yet

K8 Cams will not work AFAIK, and I believe they can not even be reground by colt because they are smaller.

I'm quite sure they do, but it turns out the K8 cam is so similar to the KL01, its not really worth it. They can't be reground by colt, but I don't understand why. They are basically the same cam. Maybe because they are so small, the ammount of material you'd have to put on them is unsafe.

Too bad, it would be a cool little OEM upgrade.

More research shows that they exhaust cam has a slightly higher lift, but lesser duration. Still not an upgrade.
