How to replace clutch in 4 cyl?

Post by knucklesup »

Well recently trying to out-run a tornado... I drove my poor old 92 4 cylinder a bit too hard and I fused the clutch... Yea I drove it so hard and it slipped so much that it overheated to the point where it melted a bit... But now I have it running (barely) and I need to replace the clutch.. Joy.. I have never done a front wheel drive car's clutch before, only rear wheel, so if someone could post up a how-to on replacing it or lead me to a thread or site that explains in detail I would be much appreciative. Thanks.

there are tons of write ups on it, use the search button man. Simple breakdown;
1) Jack the car up and put it on jack stands.
2) Remove the intake tubing.
3) Remove the clutch slave and set aside
4) Remove the 2 front tires and cv axles from both sides
5) Put a jack under the engine to support the weight
6) Remove all bellhousing bolts except the top 2
7) Support the trans with a tranny jack.
8) Remove the trans mounts
9) Undo the top 2 bellhousing bolts and seperate the trans from the engine.
10) Lower the trans to the ground and remove it.
Now if you need more info search for it.
