ok my issue is this, i have a bit of a knock but it sounds like an injector and the motor is running very rich, i have a 93 mx3 1.8 v6, i just bought it and dont know much about these cars, I love it though and would like to fix this issue, how hard is it to replace a injector in these motors?

because it smells distinctly like fuel when running, yet there is no leaks. and its almost like steaming out of the exhaust but no raw fuel comes out. Also i guess this would be a good point to note, is that theres NO codes flashing and or engine warning lights goin off, its just burning fuel faster than usual and that "knock" i mentioned sounds like a injector problem i had with a civic in the past, i just dont want to get into a mess if the injectors are a pain in the a-- to change.

"knock" noise might be lifter. These engines are notorious for HLA noise

yeah? hmm so what change to synthetic? maybe some lucas to raise the pressure to make sure oils gettin up there? the other reason i think the knock is a injector is because now its missing a bit. and the noise is comin from the center of the rear head. its not a loud knock its more like ambient.

I've never heard of injectors making a knocking noise. Where are you smelling it? It might be an exhaust leak or the evap isn't working properly.

I can only smell the fuel comin out of the back of the car. And I've heard the same engine noise from a blown Injector. The car sat for 3 years so I'm gonna change the oil and spark plugs see if that helps. I appreciate the advice guys.

For running rich, there aren't really any surefire ways to test without actual sensors, but for the guys with chrome exhaust tips can look for carbon deposits. They will reduce your shiny exhaust to a dark, sooty color.

you can pull spark plugs and see if your car is running rich/lean.

this is where i would start. Plugs tell you everything. Is it possible to post a good youtube video of this??? I think i know what the knock might be.....

Does this car still have an EGR valve??

It sounds like a weird question but when i got the k8-ze, at idle it wont stop making a popping but i have a good running engine for sure. K8-ZE = no EGR because its a jap K8.
