well here's a link to the different types of sunroofs
http://www.sunroofs.org/sr-def.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and a simple how to
http://www.urhowto.com/automotive/how-t ... a-sunroof/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...why don't you just research this yourself on google? just search "aftermarket sunroof"

Aren't the roofs rolled and such to fit the sunroof of a stock one ?

To properly put a stock sunroof in requires drilling out of spotwelds and cutting and welding along the two seams on the roof that have the strips of rubber stripping in there... replacing that whole panel.

I'd just go aftermarket. Urethane its a-- to death, nothing says "I suck" more than a leaky sunroof.

I was thinking of putting in an aftermarket sunroof. Anyone here done that?

edit:

I mean anyone have pics of what they look like? how spacious is the sunroof? How much did it cost ya?

mine came with an aftermarket one. i only have this pic from the inside when i was fitting my new headliner. Image
tips for installation: make sure you install the drain lines. the idiot that put mine in just siliconed them shut and it would fill with water then dump when you start driving in the morning.

another hard part is getting the headliner to fit properly. the guy who put mine in also butchered the headliner and made some horrible cloth cover that fell. i got a new headliner, cut it to shape then recovered and tucked the extra fabric in the weather stripping for the sunroof. its not perfect but its alot better then it was.

i have no idea what model/dimensions it is but i definetely like the glass over the metal stock ones. i think its a bit bigger then stock, and it has a better slider system.

I bought my MX3 with a sunroof, which I'd assume was professionally installed (since I can't find a place to actually purchase the damn model). It's a Webasto brand. http://www.webastoshowroom.com/300info.html
When I bought the car, the roof leaked whenever it rained hard. I tore everything down, and sealed the entire thing with silicone caulking then tightened it down. The drains, were there, but they needed to be drilled out (stock=plugged?) and I ran hoses down each of the pillars. I caulked the insides of the hoses before I attached them, then twisted bailing wire around them.
My worklog has 2 pictures you can somewhat see the size of the sunroof. Top 2 pix I'll go take some new ones tomorrow before I go get another alternator. I'll take an interior shot too.

This post was stolen from my finger tips. Everything right down to the brand (Webasto), dumped buckets on me through the headliner whenever it rained, no drain hoses were run. No issues whatsoever since I did exactly what you did (about 3 years ago).

whats with all these aftermarket sunroofs not being installed with the drain hoses? youd think a place that installs them professonially would know its kind of a good idea to have them...

fyi if your lazy like i was, i connected the back 2 drain holes with a T then sent that down to one wheel well. i left the front plugged and i get enough drainage with just the one.
