The ignition switches are not SUPPOSED to come off...

I would bet that unless its exactly an MX-3, the ignition will not line up properly. It will fit on, but won't match up to the hole in the plastic column housing. I've tried a 323 hatchback, and its not the same.

No, if all else fails, someone on here has a spare steering column they have the key for and can get for you for much less than $100.

well are you just talkin bout the ignition switch on the steering wheel lock or the whole assembly.
cuz like its been said the colum isnt supposed to come off. (the steering wheel lock)
but the switch itself can come off.
last year i broke my key off in the ignition. so i wraped a rope around the steering wheel and busted the steering wheel lock.
took of the switch itself cut the wires and put it on switches.
i kinda like it.
cuz if you think about it.
someone trying to steal my car outa the blue. wont be able to start the car by screwdrivering the ignition. and if they bust the colum cover there wont be any wires there to hot wire the car.

If you grind into the top of the 'rivets' that hold the ignition cylinder to the column, to make them into a flathead screw, you can pull them out. They're not made to come out, thought, but they do.
