SUSPENSION TIME(I dont want to lower)

Post by hgallegos915 »

Ok, I get MASSIVE wheel hop...

Already replaced motor mounts, tires and I KNOW its because of my suspension.

I read the escort faq but I dont want to lower the car.

I know summit sells the escort struts, can I buy those? then but the upper bearing or whatchamacall it part and fit them to my car?

Should I use the gs springs or the escort springs? Even with good tires I spin out at the track(turbo at 6 psi now with knife egded manifold and every bolt on)

Im tired of losing at the drags or the street all because my lanch sucks and I end up hopping like a basketball.

I may have been in this forum for a while, BUT I am a complete NOOB when it comes to suspension... I replaced my struts once for stock kybs ehivhj we all know suck.

Oh and I only need front struts, my rear struts are good. I WANT TRACTION.

Oh and did I mention that I dont want to lower my car?(modded cross member for the turbo pipes)

i think that the zx2 struts end up lowering the car around 1/2". why dont you want to lower the car? im not sure but coilovers might work. they can adjust how much you lower the car so you might be able to use them around stock height... other people will know more.

I can't lower it because I have a body kit and a modofied cross member for my turbo pipes. Also I live where there's some ugly turns with hills. Oh and pot holes.

Maybe ur suspension is not the issue. Usually wheel hop is associated with worn bushings, worn motor mounts or dying cv axles. Have you replaced any of these?

Axles are new, so I guess I need to replace bushings, where can I get em? I see autozone has them but it says universal kit and its made by energy suspension or something like that.

Yea there is a write up somewhere on the site (maybe in FAQ) about how to do that ORR you can go on ebay and get some new control arms with bushings for a good price and swap those in.

As for mounts, mazdaspeed or AWR 88's should help as well.

What rim/tire combo you running? A heavy rim will cause wheel hop as well as its added strain on all the parts helping to move and stabilize the car.

I have some bridgestone potenza 225 45 r 17, I get horrible wheel hop taking off from a regular stop. Also I hear a pop on the left side, already took it appart inspected and it seems like I need a control arm bushing.

Im about to order some bf goodrich g force tires same size.
I dont know if thats suck a good idea on a 17 inch tire .

Im about to order part numbers 4.3152G from energy suspension. Supposebly it is a direct bolt on.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ENS-4-3152G/?rtype=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

thats what Im looking at.

I've heard traction bars will help (I have a set, yet to install) but SRD control arm bushings helped alot for me... I think Wytbishop was selling these bushings as well... AWR motor mounts 88 are good as well

Where do I buy traction bars from?

Also can someone confirm that the [part number I posted is correct for the control arm bushings?

If your going all out you dont want the orginal replacements, get wytbishop's ones, I would if I had the extra cash they're solid and will eliminate any unneeded movement and the traction bars that the guys have are custom units that you will have to drill into the balljoint mount if I remember right from the ones I first saw on probetalk. None of these your gonna find in your local autozone or summit site, check the forums Ive only seen some on here for sale so Ild jump on mooneggs advice

yeah I would only recommend wytbishop bushings or SRD... otherwise you are going to have to figure it out

the traction bars are pretty limited for the mx-3... there's been a couple of group buys on clubprotege... you should contact hppwdn - maybe he knows of someone selling a set!

The ES bushing for Escort/protege/323 front control arms work because I used them on my MX3 control arms I installed on my car, but you need to use the rear busing bracket from one of these cars for it to work on your MX3. I dont know about the rear trailing arms ones though, but I bet they are the same as well.

If you want a complete kit see if Wytbishop will do another groupbuy...........
1995 Ford Escort- No its not an MX3, but it has lots of MX3 parts on it.
