Should I buy it?

I'm looking at a 92 mx-3 V6 it's in decent shape needs frame work but I can handle that. It'll cost me about 1000 bucks to get it saftied. But there's a catch. It's got 370k km on it (230k miles). It's almost all highway and was driven lightly (middle age woman). Would it be worth it or would it be getting ready to blow. I'm thinking even at 1000$ to slap a new engine in still wouldn't be too bad. It's my first car I want soething zippy mx-3 fits that :p

depends on frame and body, suspension, brakes, tires, how much the car is selling for... is there much rust? 370k is quite a bit. if you can work on cars and swap the motor yourself it may be worth it. im buying one this weekend with a f***** up motor.

with that much mileage your gonna be looking at replacing alot of parts in the near future unless theve been replaced already.

Yeap $400 spot on. It's got new brakes all around new exhaust all the suspension is in good shape. And newer tires about 80% on them. The body would take a couple hours and a scoop of bondo it's not bad. The frame I can fix. It's my highschool shop teachers right now he would help me fix the frame.

Im confident enough around cars to do most stuff myself. Just it's my first car and a daily driver didn't want to get into anything that'll cost me thousands and won't be on the road

buy it, drive it till engine blows and get a ze while you're driving it. Then just swap it out.

I think I'll buy it and just drive it easy the motor should last awhile it sounds and feels strong. Then I'll just save up and keep looking for a good swap.

Where are you from and is salt on the roads an issue. The underside could be soft and the only way to check that out is to try and put it on a hoist. If it's soft it'll show up then.

The underside is soft. I'm in northern Canada. It needs framework like I said but not to bad it belongs to my highschool shop teacher and is at the school on the hoist. It's solid just some spots that would need touch up for saftey.

I dont have the money to do a ze swap yet but im gonna save and order one. Pit the car up and looked at it it's only like a 5 inch piece of frame I'll have it fixed next week. So I got it :) my first car and I'm a proud mx-3 owner now. Time to mod it out :p

I think 400 is kind of on the high side for a car with frame damage and that many miles... I bought my SE for 400 with a blown head gasket... Say you only spend 1k to fix the frame well then thats 1400 in the car and its not worth 1400 with that many miles... You could get one for the same price with less miles and no frame damage...

1k to fix frame? I spent 10$ for sheet metal to fix it. It'll be on the road for less them $600. Just a small peice on the right side. It's actually subframing.
