Ok recently my car picked up a ticking noise i wasnt sure what is was though it was the lifters(im not muc of a car person im still learning) took it to auto zone asked if someone would take a look guy said it wasnt lifters because my car doesnt have any because its a over head cam told me to get a vavle adjustment done. the car does not over heat all fluids are good and the ticking doesnt affect the car in any way possible. has this happened to any one else?

The autozone guy is a moron, or at least is speaking beyond his range of knowledge.

Technically they're not lifters, they're lash adjusters.

We don't do valve adjustments... I don't know what he's talking about.

It will be clogged HLA's (Hydraulic Lash Adjusters). Not fatal or even dangerous. Might sap a tiny amount of power. If it doesn't bother you, ignore it. If it does, try some GOOD QUALITY oil treatments, and change to a lighter oil.

I've had the same ticking. Didn't occur when I was running 10W30, occurs only when I'm on 5W30.
