Rear disc conversion for an RS

Post by megancathleencarey »

Alright, I'm new to this.

Anyone know where to get the parts I need for a rear disc conversion,
and if anyone else has done it?

I've got a '94 RS.

And, a good engine to swap in?

Been covered many times. You need the GS subframe. Use the search.

you need the rear sub-frame.
unbolt the brake lines, they are hard metal, not rubber, so this needs to be done first.
unbolt the trailing arms to each of the knucles, then take off the 4 14mm bolts that hold the frame up. drops down very nicely.
despite what others say, i like the looks and the better performance.
you DEFENETLY NEED the proportioning valve, or your fronts will get locked up easily. disc brakes need more pressure than drums.
although someone posted the brake booster was needed, i didn't use it, and have no issues. it's actually better for me as i'm used to having hard brakes.
and a good bleed. lol.
i JUST did this, literally. like 3 weeks ago, and couldn't be happier.

Also the hard brake line to the front driver's side is different since it comes from the proportioning valve on the GS, and the master cylinder on the RS. Might be the other way around, can't remember right now.
