Retarded Blinker

My left turn blinker seems to be blinking really fast now, however my right turn blinker goes at normal speed.
However when I put the hazards on they both go at normal speed.
It's not just the blinker inside the car that is going fast because I can see the light outside going fast.
I'm just wondering why its doing that for the left turn signal but blinks normal if you put on your hazard lights.
Any ideas?

Hey andrew,
Try replacing the bulb that blinks really fast! Usually when one of them blink fast its telling you that it is out, but you said u can see it blinking, so i doubt that is it, but just try it.....a new bulb....$6 ...might as well? later

Check the connections inside the socket. It's probably a little bit corroded. If it's not making a proper connection with the bulb, then it "thinks" that the bulb is out. The connection between the litle things on the bottom of the bulb, and the contact in the socket is very small, so even a little bit of corrosion can interrupt the connection.
My driver side turn signal is like that. Just take the bulb out, and stick something into the socket to scrape off any corrosion and blow it out. Then stick the bulb back in, turn on that turn signal, and nudge the bulb until it blinks properly on its own. Usually if you press the bulb down manually (forcing a good connection with the socket), it will blink normally. But once you let go, it will blink fast again. So you just gotta nudge it until it's seated properly, then put it back into the housing.
It could also be a loose wire in the socket, so check that too. Maybe plug the bulb in, turn it on, and move the wires around to see if that affects it.
And to double check that your bulb is OK, just plug it into the other side to see if it blinks properly. If it does, then you'll have to play around with the socket.
[ November 09, 2001: Message edited by: GMGQ ]
