Ima singing the "Manual Window" Blues

I did a search trying to find an answer to my problem but nothing seems quite right.

My manual (crank-style) window on my driver side goes down with ease, but has the hardest time cranking up unless it is raining outside or if I push in on the window while I am rolling it up. I did see where Ryan made a post stating that sometimes the black gasket track gets old and sometimes needs to be replaced. I have also seen where people have stated that the window regulator needs to be replaced and or lubed. I have lubed the hell out of both of these trying to make sense of it but to no avail. Any suggestions?

I had a mechanic tell me last week to spray some silicone spray in around the window seals. Haven't tried it yet, though...

I've tried the ole silicone spray and white lithium grease... but to no avail. I've got to replace my front speakers anyway so I will probably be tearing down the doors on Wednesday.

Have you actually looked at the regulator itself? Does it bump and grind, or just hard to turn?

I had this same issue with my 94 RS.. the seals are only part of the problem.. they are what cause the damage though. When the window gets hard to roll up and we force it to go up.. it actually stress the mechanism. It bends cause its not made of very strong material. I couldnt repair it. I found another one in a junk yard and replaced it.. it worked fine for a while.. but.. because I didnt replace those seals.. it eventually started doing the same thing.

The manual window consists of:

The gearing to spin the main pulley. The pulley is wound from the centre of the cable, so there are two free ends, and when one is wound out, the other is wound in. The ends each run over a pulley, and then meet in the middle to the window. The window slides in the fibre seals, and a plastic runner in the rail of the regulator.

The only things that can seize, are all of the pulleys, the gear system, and the seals.

On second thought, I think it only slides over guides.

Heck, just replace the stupid thing. Its 5 bolts after the panel is off.
