Scary loud ticking

When I started my car today it made this loud tapping/ticking noise from the engine, not like lifter noise, it was a good deal louder and sounded almost like a bad timing telt tensioner. I popped the hood and tried to locate it, it seems like its coming from the middle of the rear cylinder bank. I realized that it was low on oil so I topped it up but i had to drive to work though so I just went. It got a bit quieter after some driving but it still made the noise when I got back home.

I'm thinking it's a collapsed lifter, but I really don't wanna get that far into the valvetrain to replace them. Could it be anything else?

So byt the time I got settled into my new house the noise went away. I'm going to seafoam the oil and change it soon, hopefully that'll keep it from coming back.

Low oil is very bad on these motors, as well as any motor but especially on these. The HLA's will start ticking very loud when your low on oil, and even when adding oil it will take some time to repressure an HLA that is dryed up.
