Huh?

Put your intake back together and check the FAQ's for pulling engine codes.

If you take that cone out of the MAF, you no longer have a MAF. You're clearly not understanding the purpose of the unit.

Thats because we don't have a MAF we have VAF (Volume Air Flow Sensor)

We have both.... he does have a MAF.

Whats so weird about it? Its some sort of barrier on a spring. Aren't they all like that? I guess, except hotwire ones.

The K8 and the KL do not use a MAF

Technically, you're right, but its how we(MX3.com) distinguish between the cylinder cone style and the trapdoor type.

Just getting the clarification out there.... "cone style" is a VAF, and the "trap door style" is a MAF. This is for the man asking about why this "MAF" does not look like all other MAFs he's seen. Cause its not a MAF, its a VAF.

You're hurting my head :P

If you want to get techincal neither MAFs or VAFs are exactly what their name implies, as only hotwire MAFS actually measure the density of the air. The rest just measure the volume, and rely on the 02 sensor to fine tune to fuel ratio.

I had always been calling the cone style a MAF and the trapdoor a VAF. They are really the same design though, measuring volume and not mass or density.

Well I will always call it a V-A-F, as that is its name and It is what Mazda calls it. So feel free to call it anything you want.

You can't use a VAF off an MX-6 if your using a K8 ECU. It is not calibrated the same. You have to stick with a MX-3 or a 929. The VAF must say JE-50 on it, not a Probe or MX-6 which says KL-01/02.

Pull the Check Engine light and see what code comes up...start there
