hello all,

im brand new to the forums, but have been a member of mazda247 for sometime and currently own a 2003 mazda protege.

i just bought a 1993 mx-3 with a klze off of ebay for $1325. the car seems to be in pretty decent condition, and it currently runs, just not very well. in about ten days, ill be flying from Dayton, Ohio to Cary, NC to pick up the car. if i can, i would prefer to drive the car back to Ohio.

the current set up is as follows;
93 mx-3 gs w/ klze swap
clutch masters kevlar clutch
resurfaced mx-3 FW
stainless headers
2.5" custom exhaust
magnaflow muffler and cat
walbro fuel pump
new disty
usdm ecu w/ probinator chip
JE50 VAF

from what i've heard from the seller, the car is running very lean after being warmed up, especially under heavy acceleration. i dont have the codes that it may be throwing, but i might be able to get them. what do you think could be causing the leaning issues after warm up? a CTS? what should i take down to NC with me to try to get this thing running? should i try a usdm mx-6 ecu and MAF?

any help for a future klze powered mx-3 owner would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,
kiel

my guess would be that the previous owner used the K8 injectors, I havent done this swap but that seems to be a problem with running lean.

the klze injectors are blue top, right? what about the k8 injectors? the klde injectors should work, correct?

i doubt very much the guy used k8 injectors when he installed the ze.

it could be a fuel pump, or a clogged fuel filter?

dont be so quick to jump to the forums either about problems like this you get some pretty ridiculous answers to what turns out to be a very simple problem.

it does have a new fuel pump, so i doubt itd be that. i could see a fuel filter causing issues, tho id hope that when they did the install that theyd have the insight to change it out as well. this will be soo much easier when i actually have the car.

How does he know its running lean? does he have a wideband? other than that I dont think theres any way to tell, if its backfiring probably running rich/timing is wrong /bad
