Water drips from rearview mirror

Post by mok86 »

just washed my car and i notice that its dripping inside the car!

94 RS the only place i could think of where the drips are coming from is the windshield seal at the top...so i spread some window sealant around there.... has neone else had this problem? lol i sealed it once before and i thought ti stopped the problem but now its doing it again

There is a gasket behind the mirror mount that prevents water from getting in there. Remove the mirror and see what you find.

Our mirrors are not held on by the glass, where is there a gasket?

I'm sure there is a rubber seal around the mirror mount that keeps the water out.

Wrong mirror wytbishop. I have my mx-3 rearview mirror in my sunfire (don't ask) and I don't recall seeing a gasket, or any place it could leak from.

Mok, do you have a sunroof? Maybe the drain hoses are clogged somewhere? I have no idea if those being clogged would cause it to leak down the middle of the windshield, but its a thought.

+1 If you have a moonroof, it is most likely coming from there.

the urethane that hold the windsheild is probly dried out or you may have a bit of rust under the molding. when i pulled my old windsheild out it was really dry and kinda fell apart near the centre. you might have to get the whole thing re-sealed.
