I'm not trying to be a d--- here. Just curious why you're specifcally looking for a B6T instead of a BP or BPT?

Its not a common engine at all. The are hard to get a hold of. Ever thought of a custom job? May be easier.

well because im looking to put around a grand into a turbo kit, i dont want to spend much more than that on the mx. i remember b6t's being 8-900. a manifolds (300)+junkyard turbo(50)+injectors from wreckers(50)+turbo rebuild kit(approx.80)+piping+intercooler i might as well just buy a b6t and have all those parts plus a spare stronger bottom end for when i loose compression, throw a rod etc.

bpt's around here are 1200-1500$ ive seen. then id need a tranny, axles, out of a escort gt? from ive read at least. when you search for bpt everythread you look into says search or has contradictory information...lol... plus 1500 is the same price as a 13b turbo, 1jz, almost enough for a 2jz,sr20,rb20... for a bpt swap i imagine id be into it for 2500-3000 all said and done.

Good luck on finding parts for the B6T... they are VERY hard to come by since there was not many produced! Your going to spend another $500 on finding parts for it... so may aswell dump that into a BPT! :welder:

if you buy a b6t you do not get the IC, the ic pipes... you get the bare bones. Engine/wiring harness and maybe ecu and tranny(which you cannot use). Expect to drop another 1000 or 2 afterwards. Boost your current b6 if it's a dohc in good working condition.
A good turbo set up should be over 3G's. But this can be much less. There was a quote out there.
You can have cheap, but not reliable.
You can have reliable, but not cheap.
electronics/tuning can save or fail any build. This should be a little costly to get it right.

If you can find a cheap escort gt around with a decent motor and trans, buy it, and start picking away at turbo parts on the forums. I did that and had a full setup including standalone for about $1000 for my old 323. The stock BP will handle close to 300HP with the block, the weak link is the trans, but even the g series trans in the gt will handle over 200HP easily.

to protg91- yeah i saw that for 1600 with a microtec standalone... may be just to much for me to justify putting into a 94 mx3, and it being a dud. plus it could of been run without consistent oil changes, overboosted, bad valve seals, have you ever had it installed and running? why are you selling it? have you compression tested it? any shaft play on the turbo? does the microtech have a base map installed on it? what tranny? do you have axles too? is there any kind of warranty? i dont want to buy a motor to have to rebuild it.

so my current motor with n/a fc injectors, walbro 255, vortec FMU(thats what i have already)+ mx6 turbo, mx6 intercooler or aftermarket front mount and custom piping wouldnt be reliable at 6-8psi? im not trying to make a power house or fast mx3, as ive been working out west for the winters and saving for 4 years, i want a FD i have enough to buy a FD but im in facility insurance for another 8 months when two tickets have come off. so im driving the mx3 till next summer. i know a FMU isnt a good way to go but actually shitty. but i figure if its what they use on new stangs and corvette supercharger kits from vortec it cant be that bad or people wouldnt put it in their 60 000 dollar cars.

i was just thinking it would be nice to have a spare STRONGER bottom end. i just dont get how miatas can boost the b6 and have great results, even though the higher cr, and smaller valves. yet everyone says bpt. isnt a bpt just a bored, stroked version of a b6t(with a mx3 head). dont they both have oil squirters, same rods, just a different bore and stroke?

well im going to call around and hopefully get a manifold this week: which would be cheaper the 323 gtx mani from mazda or a capri (what year?) mani from ford? my dad owns a shop so i get parts at cost. even though i imagine their dealer items, so it will still be the most pricey part.

You could probably find a used 323 gtx mani for under 200 and with only minor mods, the mx6 turbo will fit fine on it. If you are using small amounts of boost, you could get away with your stock engine, but beware boost creep and tune in a bit of safety just in case it does. There are still some suppliers for heavy duty rods and pistons for the B6DE and B6T, just search under miata. They have lots of different cr pistons from something like 8:1 up over 10:1. Ideally, if you can track down a B6T ecu and vaf, that would be your best bet for a good reliable setup. The idea behind switching to a BP is that it is not just a bored out B6, it is designed to take the abuse of a turbocharged engine and be reliable enough to be streetable as a daily driver. They made it to take over the WRC and they needed the extra displacement and stronger block to do this. The BP is just much more common and much easier to find OEM parts for. With the setup you have so far, you could go either way, it's just down to your bottom line and what your goals are out of the car.
