Tough Transmission

for a while ive noticed that right when i start my car and im driving before its fully warmed up i get a kinda rough shift into second but once its warm then it shifts smoothly.

just the other day i noticed that it was extremly hard to shift and i ended up having to skip gears cause it would not go into a certian gear while i was getting on the freeway.

but if i double clutch it then it shifts smooth and no problems any idea what could be causing this?

could it be low / bad fluid?

or the synchro?

or just the tranny going bad?

If double clutching helps then synchro is a possibility. It will always be a little rougher when cold due to the tranny oil being thicker, maybe flush and add some synthetic?

can you replace the synchro or should i just get a new tranny?

and if it is the synchro thats bad will the tranny still last as long as i keep double clutching?

I'd vote run the tranny untill it nearly explodes, and then pick up a junker unit for $75. Drop out drop in. Easy.

Tranny rebuild = scary and expensive
