Which side of the engine is left side?
Kind of tough to tell when the engine is transversely mounted in the engine bay to tell which side is left and which is right.
I basically need to know which oxygen sensor to replace (code 15)....the one at the front of the car, or the one closest to the firewall.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Which side of the engine is left side?
Thanks.
I looked in the engine section of the manual, but only made it to the page before it.

Re: Which side of the engine is left side?
So you got to the engine section of the manual and gave up at page 2?
Seriously?

Re: Which side of the engine is left side?
I think the part of the motor where the belts and pumps are mounted is always considered front on front engined cars, so if you go based on that it's simple.

Re: Which side of the engine is left side?
Actually it's not in this case. That very same thought process screwed me up at first and I thought the back would be the left but it's not. The rear bank is the right and the front bank is the left.

Re: Which side of the engine is left side?
Why would the back be the left? If you consider the belt side "front" and flywheel side "rear" and align yourself in the same direction, then firewall side is RH and radiator side is LH.wytbishop wrote:Actually it's not in this case. Re: Which side of the engine is left side?
Yeah, you'd think that would make sense, but perhaps there's a need to adhere to a certain directional standard that all engines share, regardless of their orientation in the car. I'd imagine it eliminates confusion when the engine is out of the car and you have no directional point of reference.Ryan wrote:Why don't they call it front/back?
