the diagram posted in your other thread shows exactly how it works - the 6 pin plug goes on the top of the disty... the 3 pins that went into the side of the disty and 1 pin from the 6 pin are used for the HEI part... just study the diagram - it took me a bit to make sense of it when I did it too...

if you can get another one, the plug from the fuel rail is the same as the 4 pin disty one...

OK...

there are 2 plugs on your stock distributor and 2 corresponding plugs on your K8 harness. The 3 wire which were connected to the 3 pin plug will connect to the external coil (the tach signal wire and coil neg to neg and coil pos to pos). From the 6 wire plug in the harness, the orange wire goes to the HEI module, the igniter signal wire is cut and the other four go to the 4 pin plug on the ZE disty. However...the order of the 4 wires is reversed on the ZE from how they were on your K8 disty. If you look at the plug in the orientation it was in when plugged into the K8 disty, and the remaining wires are 1 - 4, with #1 being closest to the rad, on the ZE disty #1 will be closest to the firewall. Get me?

Just wire you new 4 pin to the 4 remaining wires on the harness and try it. If it doesn't work you probably have the four wires reversed.

you do realize that you need the entire disty right? did you just get a cap?

the cap and rotor cannot be ordered from a parts store... dana and I spent an hour or so browsing through his catalogs... we ordered a bunch of different ones just to see if any would work and none would... :?

Try a 93-97 MX-6 rotor. That's your best chance.

It doesn't matter what color wires are coming out of the 4 plug, what matters is you put the correct wires into the 4 plug!

my suggestion would be to carefully remove the 4 existing wires from the plug... this can be done with very tiny flathead screwdrivers (be very careful) coming in from the inside - there is a tiny little piece that holds it in place you push that lets you pull the wire out the back Using the same process, remove the 6 wires from the normal plug and then plug the 4 correct wires into the new plug...

this way you don't have to cut and rewire at all! (it's what I did :D)
