header wrap is smoking?

i just put on some header wrap...and i started the car up and the wrap is smoking and smells terrible... i did not use the stuff they sell to spray on it? do i need that ? or does it just need to break in...

and i DID search for a bit...
my idle is high ( 2000rpms) does not come down... then surgers a bit... i have adjusted the screw all the way in still high .. i adjusted the tps so that the fan doesnt come on .. still high...andi loosend slack off the cable just incase...
now i did just bore it out a bit so any suggestings?
thanks alot... and i no idle has been coverd hundreds of times but i cant find info for my specific app

It's supposed to smoke for a bit, and you may smell it for a few months. You don't need to sparay the stuff on.

yeah what jesse said and as far as your idle... it's common on klzes for it to either idle high or pulsate...

i sorta figured it was suposto after a while lol still kinda wierd when u just took off a bunch of stuff and then put it all on and start it up lol

ok i put on the old tb for now ill try that defrost trick after ...thanks

looks like crap, traps moisture on your exhaust or whatever its wrapped on and will make your headers rust. It's cheapo fix for drag race cars back in the days. Well it's cheapo fix even nowadays. Just get ceramic coating, do things right first time around.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. If you want proper headers, wrap them in ceramic coat instead of rags.

It's true.
But, if you're poor, and can redo welds every couple of years (yours, truly), header wrap is an effective way to increase power, and gas mileage.
