Ya, just needs to get some oil up there to quiet them down. Once it's off, the oil slowly settles and works it's day down and off the components.

The ticking should only last a few minutes on the coldest day. Even my X ticks for a few seconds upon startup.

He's probably talking about the lifter tick that we all have.

Some are worse than others, yes... Nothing to be seriously concerned about. I like to run 5W30.

You can always put fresh oil & filter & an additive, I like engine restore, its a bit pricey but I use the 4 cyl version, (smaller can), since lots of 4 cyl are bigger than 1.8 anyways.

If it has a load tock when cold it might be worth checking out your cams & gears, it could get worse and be a much bigger expense later.

Always let your engine warm up properly before stepping on it.

good luck :)
