You want to be sure timing is 100% correct aswell as spark and fuel.

Keep trying to crank it over.
It might just be that its cold where you live and you might have a bad O ring on the fuel injectors. Meaning, it hesitates to start when its cold.

Also make sure everyting is connected

have you compression tested it yet? this will give you good idea of where your at in regards to if your timing is off.

Having spark isn't enough. The spark has to happen at the right time. If it's firing at the wrong time, it won't start.

Also I don't know if these motors can flood, but try deflooding it before trying to start.

Yeah, what he said.
My timing was totally off because of a worn out timing belt tensioner...
It caused lots of problems.
Had spark, fuel, air.... all the things necessary for combustion...just not in the correct order.
Check the newly updated topic & see if the symptoms are similar.

Did you check and make sure you didn't plug your O2 monitor sensor plug into your fuel rail? It will fit and if you did the engine will run like crap just like your saying it does.

No it's the grey plug that goes into your rh (rear) fuel rail. I commented on your other post about the oil line. The picture you posted has the area circled, the plug is just left of the circled area. Check that post and you'll see what I mean. If your getting a VAF code then install the JE50 VAF for the time being. It won't run quite as smooth but at least it'll run and at high RPM's it'll really kick. :D

Ok so swap in your JE50 VAF and see if that helps. You did say you got a VAF code right.
