The short tale of my GS *slight destruction pics inside*

Update: I forgot that I did manage to take some pics. They are not very good, my camera sucks, but meh... Boss man didn't listen on where to cut, so he cut where he wanted. :( Targa top one could have turned out better, still gives an idea though. Convertible one turned out alright. Truck one, he cut completely through the back bumper, so it looks weird. We did cut the car into bits, but I don't have pics of that. The car caught on fire, that was fun. And the engine was complete rubbish. There was glass and gravel in the engine. Good thing i didn't try to start it. It was missing the crossmember, and other important stuff for a I4 to V6 swap. the "lowering" springs on it were the stock springs just hacked at. I guess that about does it. (pics at bottom of this post)

Some of you may recall my struggles to find another mx-3, I did settle for that Canadian '94 GS out in Detroit. I originally wanted it for parts, rims, wing, lip, etc, but then I discovered it had full power options. I was like, "Oh HELL yes!" Things did not go to plan. Seeing how I can't take it to a JY, I got's to cut it up and scrap it. I would've kept it, but there was MOLD EVERYWHERE. I couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from. I cleaned the car, but the smell remained. Since I could not deal with that smell, i decided to take out all the plastic panels, and *BAM* I found the mold. It was everywhere you can't get to, haha. Luckily the seats were good. :D

Since I'm cutting it up, I thought I'd have some fun. With the help of my boss and his shop, we're going to create a targa (sp?) top mx-3, A convertible mx-3, and a flatbed mx-3. I'll TRY to get pics, but no guarantees.

Anyway, on to some pics of the $200 wonder:
How it looked when I got it, but with new hatch glass:

I couldn't stand that horrible black spray-paint so I sanded some off:

At this time, I put on my old gray bumper that was on my RS. The GS's bumper was messed up bad.

Sanded the rest of the black paint off and put on the White bumper I had (and the Gs's lip fixed):

The messed up spots on the hood are thanks to my boss's trailer. It kind of ramped up on top of the car when we were pushing it up the driveway.

While sanding, I sort of broke off a chunk of paint on the fender. 7 freakin layers of white paint!!! WTF?! That was on top pf some bondo. Whoever painted that new fender never sanded off the rust prohibitor stuff:

Misc pics of the interior:

The leather isn't in bad shape, a few little rips here and there, but not bad at all coming from a $200 car.

The rear wing isn't in bad shape either. A few chips here and there, but I can't complain:

On to the destruction part. This is just the beginning, there'll be more pics eventually:

The interior is gutted almost entirely. Of course I'm keeping everything of use.

I hope you enjoyed the brief life of my car. Hopefully some cool destruction pics to follow. :D

As it left (same trailer as it came in on)

sad day for the mx-3 :(

I would've liked to see a "raised from the dead" project instead of a destruction project.

I wanted to raise it from the dead, after all, the ONLY rust on that car was on the door. The shell is/was clean, except the mold and dents galore. There is one other reason why I have to get rid of it, but I do not wish to say the reason why.

Ouch shelbs, that sucks. Sorry to hear that :(

K of Super, I am freakin' determined to find a decent one that I can fix. But mommy no likey pieces of dooky on her driveway. :? Running/driving ones are the key me thinks.

PLEASE!!!!! Get pics of the Targa top MX3!!! This is 1 mod that I have always wanted to do... but won't do it on my own, since you have to build some stiffining stuff for the chassis... Still trying to find a place that will do it. I know there were a couple T-top MX-3's... but I want the full Targa and removable!

It won't be to your standards Colin. Just gonna take the saw and cut the roof off, lol. Its just to give a real life, un-photochopped idea.

Slight destruction pics at bottom of first post.
Sorry, I forgot about this post. I remembered just now that I did take some pics.
Things didn't turn out quite as I was expecting, but what can ya do?

With the interior completely removed like that it would be fairly simple to reinforce the frame to do the convertible conversion. I think the best look would be to fabricate a trunk lid and use the rear half of the roof to fabricate a removable hard top.

Um, well, you see...This cutting took place a few days after I first made the topic; so early March. It was just above freezing or so that night. Besides, that's not me in the sweatshirt, lol. I like the cooler temps. :D

It was only 75ish here today. :P
