[WTB] Quarter Panels
Hey guys, I wanna get my hands on some new (or at least in good condition) quarter panels for my mx3. If you got some or know where I can find some I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

you talking about the front fenders? Junk yard will be your best option

Re: [WTB] Quarter Panels
Meaning front fenders or "rear quarter panels", the mx3 is a unibody car so if you want the back ones, they will have to be grinded off and welded back on!
Unless you are talking about interior trim pieces which some people have referred to as interior quarter panels in the backseat area!
Glad to see you read the forum rules before posting with the proper [WTB] tags!

Re: [WTB] Quarter Panels
Lol, thanks onlytrueromeo. I'm talking about the rear exterior quarter panels (I would have said fenders if I meant the front). When I got my mx3 I guess it had a lot of rust right around the wheel area of the panel and the previous owner just patched it up. Needless to say it looks like a bondo bucket. Either way the left panel got a little banged and scratched up and so I figure instead of fixing it up I could just replace them.

Re: [WTB] Quarter Panels
Unless you're a really good body man and own a welder, I would not try to fix that myself. You will need to cut it off with a grinder, then find one at a junkyard, cut that off, and re-weld it on. You might have better luck tryin to bang out the dented metal, cut out the bad metal, and get new sheet metal inserts that you can weld in place, then do body work to make it look nice...either way it's alot of work!
One reason why unibody cars are a PITA!
Good luck!

Are you sure it's not detachable? Look at this: http://mx-3.com/manuals/showimg.php?fil ... 0Panel.gif" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Let me go outside and take some pictures for ya, I found out my car was in an accident from a previous owner on the rear quarter, and how they fixed it is exactly as I described. BRB

Re: [WTB] Quarter Panels
Part by hatch

See the crack/rusty part?

Notice the TINY rusty bubble there. I will need to take care of that when I finish painting my car.

This image shows the different welds, stock welds are much cleaner. It's a unibody because the pieces are welded together like that.

Another angle showing how the unibody is welded.

And this is what its welded to, but only at the pinch joints, which is why it's possible to grind it off and remove it. There is no way to unbolt it though, it is welded.

I see... any estimates on how much it would cost to weld & replace vs. the sheet metal fix?

Re: [WTB] Quarter Panels
ouch dude, you'll have to take it to a bodyshop. not going to be cheap. Atleast you'll get a brand new paint job. Talk to some local shops and see if it'll be cheaper if you can bring in weld in metal from a jy car.
Re: [WTB] Quarter Panels
Shops I've talked to are glueing panels on now. No more welding. Comments?
