I recently got my tax refund and $1400 from a car accident (sacrificed my front bumper for some $$), I have a 1992 MX3 GS and im looking forward to doin a KL-ZE swap, im pretty sure this information is in the forums somewhere, but with my slow internet its pretty much impossible.

If i were to buy a clutch kit, would i have to get a MX-6 KLZE clutch kit?, or would i have to go with the 1.8 clutch kit? I have already orderd my engine, 5-speed trans and they included a Free klze ECU, ordered from JapaneseStarmotor.com, $1300.

The only thing im confused about is if i were to order a MX6 klze clutch kit, would it fit in the MX3. Thanks for the help and ill try and get some pics posted of my swap.

As far as clutches go for the KLZE swap you want to get a mx-6 clutch, its a little larger in diameter compaired to the mx-3. You will want to get a heavy duty kit as well. Like a stage one or two. Clutchmasters, ACT Bully are all good brands.

I just finished my KLZE swap back in december. I bought both a Act 6puck clutch kit as well as the ClutchMasters stage one kit. I ended up installing the Act. I still have the Clutch masters FX100 kit in its unopened box if you are interested in it. PM me.

Clutchmaster stage 1 is what I have, and I like it. Get it from rr-racing (or the above member) and it's automatically sized for probe/mx6.

You can also get an exedy organic kit, Jesse and Mooneggs have been running them and they like it alot.

Pucked clutches will grab better, but they will also chatter. ACT makes nice clutches.

All depends on what you want to spend, and what you plan on doing with the car.

I have an MX6 clutch and if I shift under load it slips just enough to be embarrassing. Don't use one. Go with an after market as suggested above min stage 1 or stage 2 if you have the funds.

Yea lol, ill take a cracked front bumper for $1400 any day, only bad thing is my hood is bent a lil bit and its not aligned right with the fenders. The funny thing is, is that after i bought the car i looked underneathe the front bumper and noticed that it was hanging by sodering wire, and the bumper was cracked and the blinker was hanging on a piece of fiberglass. Then whadaya know, 3 weeks later, snowing out, a lady pulls infront of my and i slide into her goin 20 mph, and i hit her right where my bumper was cracked when i first bought it. lol, cop asked if i had any previous damage on the car before the accident and i said , nahhhh.

Ya, revving high, and especially bouncing off the rev limiter, with no load on the motor, is a bad thing.

If you take care of a motor, it'll take care of you. You don't want to spend all that money on a ZE, just to abuse it and have it prematurely fail on you.

BTW, a clutch doesn't cause it to grind, more likely it's an issue with your slave cylinder not disengaging properly, or the syncros are bad in the trans.
