Hello, and welcome.
Search "HLA".
The tick isn't a big deal

Hydrolic lifters and camshaft friction gears, they like to tick and make noises, its common with the v6's. It wont cause any harm, its just something we all have to live with haha. You can go about cleaning the lifters in kerosene and changing the friction gear if it gets super bad (rare cases) but its best to leave em alone or try running some thinner oil like 5w30 to flush em out and get the oil into the tight areas.

i kinda like the ticking... When people come listen to your car and hear that ticking they usually think something is wrong with it, you don't take care of it, or its really low on oil lol... Always gives you the upper hand in that they will think your motor is crap :)

You should hear what it sounds like with oversized SS Valves... Its not longer a quiet motor lol

not really, pretty much any newer car ie civic, eclipse, etc have tick. Really depends on the condition of your HLA's. Changing your oil regularly with good quality oil and good filter prevents from that.

Could be oil weight and the cold weather. My X ticks for just a few seconds on a cold day.

I use to do oil analysis, monitoring metal wear trends in engines and transmissions. You could try Duralube. It does a very good job of cleaning your engine and treating metals. I stopped getting that early morning inital tick after I added it to my engine.

I've heard both the HLA's and tensioner, and I wouldn't call the tensioner a ticking sound, it's more of plastic on metal slapping sound, can't really explain it. :?
