Hello everyone!!!

I was wondering if it is possible to do a HEI mod for 1.6L RS? So far I've only seen/read HEI mod for 1.8L and I've searched but nothing came up for 1.6L. If its possible can someone post a write up :D . Thank in advance!!!

First you should know it's not a V4...it's an I4...as in Inline 4. Other less charitable individuals would make fun of you for that...but i'm above that sort of thing.

I believe Tunes67 did HEI his RS. I don't know if there's a write up or not...but I am certain he's done it. If you as him he might be able to help you.

Thx wytbishop!! :D lol i didn't know RS engine was an Inline 4, but thx for the charitable action :) You learn from your mistakes. I really appreciate the help. I'll pm Tunes67 and ask him (hope he doesn't mind), but other comments are welcome.

I did the HEI on my RS...I dont have pics because I dont have the car anymore. You need to drill into the disty cap and mount a tower, thats the only different between that and the v6 install...that and maybe the splicing into the plug wires might be slightly different. There is a writeup if you search.

I had to drill in my disty cap in the ZE :P

The wiring harness is different, so you're going to have to find the different wire diagram and match accordingly.

Tunes still checks, but I haven't seen him post in FOREVER. He still owes us that HEI writeup that he promise he'd write us years ago :P

Please edit the topic and change it to "I4" or just delete the "V4"....that V4 is driving me nuts. :freak:

I just went to O'Reillys and asked for a GM HEI module...think it was like $14 dollars. Pretty much any auto parts store will have handfulls of them in stock.

As far as the electrical connections, I have a couple tackle boxes stocked with a variety of different kinds. Bet you could pick up everything you need at a local O'Reillys, NAPA, Autozone...

I'll try to get a couple pictures taken and uploaded tomorrow.

EDIT: My MX3 is the base model, not the RS. Don't think it will make a difference but I figured i'd at least let you know.

I appreciate the help JCS!! Its cool about the delay and I totally understand. Its pretty colder over here too so I won't get to work on my car until it warm up a bit. I rather have nice clear detail picture; instead of, shaky pictures from frost bitten hands 8) Thanks in advance.
