Hey guys.

I was wondering if anyone else has/had a problem with the power locks on the 93 mx-3. in the past couple of months my power locks have decided to start locking, and not unlocking when then engine is shut off or when the keyless entry is hit. Working the mechanism, the mechanism is stiff when I go to manually unlock it, however once it's unlocked it is nice and loose, like normal....until the next time the thing decides to freeze.

If anyone could give me any advice or input on this aggrevation, I would appreciate it...because I'm really not too impressed with having to d--- with my locks at three in the morning, when my remote is supposed to have unlcked them, and I am supposed to be on my way to an emergency call.

No MX-3 ever came from the factory with keyless entry. Cars with power options have power locks which unlock the passenger door when the drivers side door is unlocked manually.

If you have keyless entry it's aftermarket. Go to a good car audio place and have an installer check it out.

Honestly the big thing I saw in here was "Working the mechanism, the mechanism is stiff when I go to manually unlock it" Usually it should be fine one way or the other. It sounds like there is a bad short somewhere that is causing your actuators to keep trying to lock or unlock after the initial use.

I had the door apart last night and had a look. The actuator is actually freezing. I wd-40'd it, however, and it seems to have loosened up somewhat. But it is still freezing. Anyone know where I can get an actuator?

no....the keyless entry feature was added to mine when the alarm was installed apparantly. However, some do have power locks, that lock the doors when the engine is running, and unlock again once the engine is shut down.
I did find a lock solenoid, switched it out last night, and NO MORE problems. I am quite happy, seeing as I paid like $12 for the part.

That would also be a function of your alarm's keyless entry. The factory door lock actuator is only in the passenger door and is only activated when the latch in the driver's side door is moved into or out of the locked position. My remote starter for example, locks the doors as soon as I touch the brake pedal.
