Lowering springs question

Lowering springs question

Someone told me that if i use lowering springs with my stock struts the suspension gets really soft, is this true?

No. The spring is what provieds support for the car. The lower the spring the stiffer it must be to prevent the car from bottoming. The only job of the shock is to control the rate of compression and rebound of the spring. It does not contribute to the stiffness of the suspension except when either compressig or rebounding. Any spring with a worn out shock will bounce like an old Caprice Classic.

Always replace them as a set (in my opinion) and try to put a stiffer spring with a performance oriented shock.

ok thanks i dont really have the money for new struts right now :(

For the most part, if you put on lowering springs and keep stock struts, the struts are underdampened and will typically fail prematurely.
