Is this a OBDII car? (96mx-3)??

Could be one issue right there.

Did you change your timing belt? if so.
Make sure your timing belt is on its marks
Get a timing light and double check ignition timing
Did you change your cams? if so
make sure your cam marks line up. very easy to do.
What wires are you using? The k8 ones will not work, they are too short.
Did you change the plugs?
(Not sure about OBDII) The je50vaf/k8ecu will work ok, but sence you have a klde get the proper vaf and ecu for your motor. ( not sure about OBDII )
Double,triple check your vac lines!!!
