96 MX3 OBD2 KLZE set up Instructions

OK I've been pounding the keys for days and found two people who have done numerous KLZE swaps into OBD2 96 MX3's. They both say the same thing.
To get the klze to run properly:
- get yourself a FPR (fuel pressure regulator). Tune the FPR to about 45psi
- get yourself a kl02 vaf (mx-6 or probe v6)
- use your original ecu
That's it. No swapping of harness or searching for that elusive throbbinator ECU chip.
Thanks to Bastian 5 and hoffman_bmx89 for sharing their knowledge.

Up Date: Regarding the FPR you can go two ways.
1. using an adaptorplate for the fuelrails and ditch the original fpr
2. Using the orignal fpr without connecting the vac. line and install the adjustable fpr after the original one (and of course hooking that one up)
Both will work.

 effort for a probinator chip! I'd sooner megasquirt than swap a harness!

Harness swapping is the dark side. Don't do it Luke.

Why is everybody so afraid of swapping an engine harness.

ZE's are not OBD2 or OBD1 - they are just ZE's Japanese engines dont have the emissions restrictions that US engines do - so they dont classify them the same way.

Yes zzzoomx3 is correct. It's the OBD2 ECU that can't be chipped so the fuel and VAF are off but we have the technology to compensate. If your swapping the harness check voltages to your sensors there is a difference so swap your sensors too. Whatever.

thank you dan - and just for general knowledge, i put a 96+ ZE in my 93 MX GS - it was a very easy swap and the only things i had to use from my K8 were the disti, front motor mount and the secondary coolant inlet. everything else was just plug and play - i havent even chipped my ECU (which is chippable) and i'm kicking a-- all over the street.

Hmm... any recommendations for the FPR? Is a KL02 vaf not the JE50?

I'm going to find out the significance of using a FPR on the 96. I'll look at my JE50 and compare it to my KL02. As far as I know their different. I was told to swap out the JE50 for the KL02 so I assumed (a-- out of you and me) the KL02 allowed more air flow?????

Hmm, maybe.. but I thought maybe it just reports slightly more/less airflow to the computer (ie. higher/lower voltage).
