I have been trying to sort out all the posts about this HEI thing, But stuck on a few things.

What does it do, replace the ECUs job of running the ingition?
Do I need an external coil, or will it work without?
As far as I could see on the wireing diagram in the FAQ, all the work is done in the engine bay?
Will it still work If I do a 2.5 swap?
And last where can I get one? (and anything I might need to do the job)

yes u have to have an external coil if your internal is failing. It will work with a 2.5 swap, all the work is done in the engine bay. You should be able to get one at any auto parts store external coil u can get online at any number of performance auto stores or from an msd dealer. O and please use the search function thats what it is 4! You will find yourself getting ripped into hard by a good number of members for asking these questions because they can all the answers can be found using the search. You dont need an external coil to have the HEI module. The exteral coil is an option you can do to upgrade from your stock internal Or as a fix if your stock one has failed. Check out the FAQ there is a link to clubeprotege that has a walk through. should be all you need. You can get a GM HEI module at any parts store.. From $30-$60 depending where you go.
