ZX2 SR struts and .... - Questions

Ok So i think i want to go with the ZX2 struts,,

I have 15inch wheels and currently save 50 profile tires. but i think i might go back to the stock 55 size

anyways id like something fairly tight and i want to go lower, not too low, but low enough to make 15s with 50 or 55s look right and nice on my car...
and still keep things reasonably priced. like the 230 on struts, 50-200 total on spring, spring/sleeve setup

anyways since im unsure, i think a coilover set up would be awesome.... eg. the Dropzone Coilovers.

This link would have helped alot but the link in first post dont work anymore.

DropZone is code for junk. In the end, there's no way to do your suspension well for less than about $700.

$200 - 250 for struts
$200 - 300 for springs
$50 for alignment

Plus the little things like bumpstops which are usually toast and strut bearings which are often broken. Add shipping if you have to order struts and springs online...which you likely will. If you try to cheap out, you'll wind up with a bad handling car.

I have to recommend http://www.oemfordparts.com for the ZX-2 Tokico struts, as well as two metal thrust bearings. They were the cheapest I could find anywhere, about $240 shipped to Canada. As well, their service was excellent.

Here is a pic of my old mx with tokico HP and suspension technique springs on stock tires:

Image

I liked those springs, they advertised a 1.3" drop, it settled at like 1.8"

H&R is a nice stiff spring
Intrax is a nice progressive spring

There are lots, they will all yeild a 1.3-1.8" drop.

With my current car I am running zx2's with a ground control coilover sleeve setup.. VERY much better for handling etc. Abit bumpy though :)

Looking at that old pic kinda makes me miss the look of that old car... :(

You can get the shocks from any large ford dealer. I got mine from Brown Bros. Ford in Vancouver for 240bones taxes in. Check a local ford dealer.

H&R should yeild a 1.5" drop

I live near the border Windsor/Detroit, think i just drive over one day and get em, along with the thrust bearings.
Still yet to make up my mind on the damn springs.. lol

Problem is planning to do to much at once.. lol Im Currently finishing school 4 hours from car and trying to find all parts so i can do Engine swap, Suspension and some body maintenance in about weeks time when i get back.. haha

My local Ford dealer had em' but at about $75 more than oemfordparts.com so it was still cheaper to get them from texas. With the Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs the drop is perfect for my taste. Just centers the wheel in the well perfectly.

I know this is an older post but I'd like advise here. My car runs like a tank, very stiff. I have 17's on the car and I don't really want to drop the car at all as the streets here have real bad curbs. What springs should I use with the zx-2 struts to achieve a little less of a hard ride. My springs are stiffer then stock but I do still have lots of stock springs around I could use if that would work. Advise anyone. Thanks

I would use the stock springs, they should ride nicer.

A lot of people on here have the misconception that the ZX-2 Tokico struts automatically lower your car half an inch. This is untrue, it's just that the stroke that the shaft undergoes is half an inch shorter.

Makes no difference to the ride height of the car.

I'd love to put stock springs back on for the ride comfort, but the wheel wells look like crap like that.

The stock springs will be the most comfortable. The Escort ZX2 springs are a little harsher than the stock ones.

With my mounts filled and the stiffer springs and shocks I've lost two fillings already. So now to find a reasonable place to buy the struts. Thanks
