i know it sounds stupid, but do you mounted under the strut mount nuts or over it, or does it matter!?

you can put them under the stock nuts or above them just as long as the strut bar is bolted down. in the front the stock front bar in europe i think goes above the nuts

For the rear I put my strut bars under the lowest nut (right on the tower). It just seemed right.

Yeah. The plate enhances the structural integrity of the strut mount.
