1.6 manual tranny questions

I was recently searching on car-part.com for manual trannys for my 1.6 DOHC and it asked me if it was
M.T., 4 cyl, thru VIN 310607 or
M.T., 4 cyl, from VIN 310608

I am assuming that there has to be a significant difference or they would not mention it. But i can also assume that because this has not been posted on the forums before that it does not matter. Any explinations?

Also is there any difference between SOHC and DOHC trannys

I would say that you should just go with the vin on your car and go with that one. Also what year are you searching. There shouldn't be a SOHC listed for anything 94 or newer or a DOHC for a 93 or older. As long as you have the right year you shouldn't get the wrong tranny even if there is a difference which I do not believe there is a difference between them at all.....
