ok so is there a safety feature for when your going over like say 10mph that y0u can not shift into first gear? for example when im in third gear and cruising, ill see a red light and put the clutch in and shift into neutral and then first with the clutch still in then stop, now i cant even put it in first until like im at 5mph or less. What would it be?? it really bothers me lol

ya i started a thread about this a cupple months ago. it is a safety feature so that you dont accidentially over rev your car if you let the clutch out. cars have rev limiters built into the ecu to stop the car from over reving but if you manually over rev the car, say letting out the clutch going 50klm an hour in first will manually cause your car to over rev and the rev limiter cant do anything.

Just to add onto that, it is something at everyone experiences with a mx. A miata has this to IIRC is just to protect the engine/tranny even if it is as you say annoying!

I can easily put it into first at 50kph..... did it once. :P Maybe my safety catch is broken. I am unable to shift straight from 2nd to 1st though.

I have 220,500mi on the original F tranny in my car, the shifter linkage is sloppy as all hell(internal wear...external bushings were replaced) and the synco's are smooth and the car goes into first easily at 30mph O.o

My last 4-cyl MX3 which had 144,000mi and good linkage went into first fairly easily at speed.
